This is an on-site and full-time position in Waltham, MA. At Alloy, we have an ethos of “Mentorship-By-Apprenticeship” in all of our positions. The Team
The Alloy Finance team is a growing, high-impact group supporting Alloy’s strategic vision and our partners with our internal stakeholders, including R&D, Business Development, and our affiliated venture studio (82VS). As we scale our commercial operations and global footprint, this team is responsible for the financial integrity, strategic planning, and operational excellence required to support our diverse business models.
The Role
As the Controller, you will serve as the foundational leader of our accounting function, overseeing the Senior Accountant, AP Specialist and partnering closely with the executive team to ensure global financial compliance and operational efficiency. This role is designed for a seasoned financial leader who has previously held a Controller title and is eager to build scalable processes in a complex, revenue-generating biotech environment. You will bridge the gap between technical accounting excellence and strategic business partnership.
How You’ll Drive Impact
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Architect and oversee the global accounting infrastructure, ensuring the financial health and regulatory compliance of Alloy and our subsidiaries.
- Operational Excellence: Lead the month-end close, audit, and tax processes with a focus on shortening cycles and increasing the strategic utility of divisional reporting.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Act as the primary financial liaison for leadership across R&D, Business Development, and Venture Studio to ensure financial strategies align with divisional growth targets.
- Scalable Infrastructure: Hands-on system expert who will optimize our financial tech stack (NetSuite, Coupa, and Ramp) to support complex revenue recognition and international expansion.
- Apprenticeship and Growth: Direct the development of the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, accuracy, and business-centric thinking.
Principal Responsibilities
- Global Consolidation: Lead the month-end close process and consolidation for all global entities (US, UK, CH, JPN), ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Revenue Governance: Oversee complex revenue recognition for diverse divisional streams, ensuring alignment between Business Development contracts and financial reporting.
- Audit & Tax Management: Own the relationship with external auditors and tax advisors, managing the successful completion of annual audits and global tax filings.
- Budgeting & Variance Oversight: Review monthly budget-to-actual reports and provide executive-level commentary on financial performance and cash flow trends.
- Internal Controls: Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment appropriate for a high-growth organization.
- Treasury & Cash Management: Oversee global cash management strategies and short/long-term cash flow forecasting to support capital allocation and venture studio initiatives.
- System Ownership: Act as the functional owner for NetSuite, Coupa, and other financial systems to drive automation and data integrity.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a Controller-level seat.
- Industry Expertise: Proven experience in a Commercial-Stage life sciences or biotech organization with complex, multi-divisional revenue streams.
- Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in US GAAP and international consolidation is essential. CPA license is preferred.
- Systems: Advanced proficiency in NetSuite required. Coupa experience is strongly preferred.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance leaders and board members.
- Global Mindset: Ability to manage financial operations across various US and international time zones.

Pay Transparency
At Alloy Therapeutics, we believe in fostering trust and open communication. For this role, the estimated annual base salary range is $180,000 - $200,000, with the final offer based on factors like your experience, skills, and alignment with our needs.
Additionally, this role is eligible for equity compensation, reflecting our commitment to shared success as we work together to make better medicines.
