The Team
Alloy’s Antibody Discovery Services (ADS) team is adding a new position for an Associate Director, Bispecific Antibody Engineering. Our antibody discovery services team seamlessly integrates our proprietary in vivo, in vitro and in silico platforms to collaborate with others to discover and optimize antibody-based therapeutics. At ADS, we employ cutting-edge technologies in discovery, engineering, novel antibody formats and analytics to identify and optimize antibody-based therapeutics. You will be a key member of the team overseeing bispecific engineering strategies and program execution at the Waltham site with the goal of making medicine together with our external partners.
The Role
As Associate Director, Bispecific Antibody Engineering, you will shape the strategy and lead execution of bispecific engineering workflows. In this role you will leverage building blocks generated from the Alloy transgenic animals to create multi-specific antibody formats that custom fit the needs of our mechanistically-diverse partner base. You will be accountable for the successful execution of the bispecific engineering campaigns for a range of large pharma companies, emerging biotech companies and academic collaborators.
You will ensure executional excellence by developing format engineering strategies for a diverse set of mechanisms of action and oversee the successful production and characterization of bispecific leads. You will work closely with the protein science and bioanalytical teams to review data in real time and make the necessary scientific adjustments to ensure a successful campaign. In addition, you will serve as a project leader overseeing the on-time completion of project activities, accomplishing shared objectives, and meeting rigorous partner timelines.
Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as you will interact with a diverse group of stakeholders both within and outside the company. You will also be accountable for high quality partner communication throughout the project life cycles, including drafting research proposals, updating project status and timelines, and presenting final deliveries. In parallel, you will provide regular project updates and presentations to internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines and addressing any potential issues or concerns promptly.
This role will report directly to the Vice President of Drug Discovery in Waltham, MA, with autonomy owning various stakeholders, projects, and tasks in a dynamic start-up environment while keeping up the pace of Alloy.

- Deliver: Efficient execution of partner projects balancing quality, timelines, and costs, while ensuring successful completion of therapeutic discovery that meet our partners’ objectives.
- Lead: Marshall, inspire, and mentor a cross-functional team of scientists. Lead by example by going the extra mile to ensure we are successful delivering on projects.
- Communicate: Communicate effectively with key stakeholders externally and internally, fostering productive interactions both upward and downward, and across teams at different sites.
- Engage prospective customers to articulate optimal designs across a variety of bispecific formats and half-life extension modalities.
- Accountable for on-time and successful delivery of bispecific leads across the ADS portfolio.
- Drive major decisions, balance tradeoffs and resolve technical issues with projects.
- Lead process improvement initiatives across ADS functional areas.
- Bring innovative scientific and technological solutions to increase business competitiveness of bispecific service offerings.
- You have a PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g. Biochemistry, Biophysics) with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience in antibody or protein engineering, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- You have broad and deep experience with bi- and multi-specific antibodies engineering, utilizing a broad set of antibody building blocks, including single domain antibodies.
- You have experience with T-cell engager formats.
- You must have the ability to utilize in silico homology modeling approaches and structure based analysis.
- You have a proven track record of successful execution and delivery of projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
- You have demonstrated the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- You have excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
- Ability to work across various US and international time zones.
- Accommodate occasional travel as needed (10%).

Pay Transparency
At Alloy Therapeutics, we believe in fostering trust and open communication. For this role, the estimated annual base salary range is $166,000 - $180,000, with the final offer based on factors like your experience, skills, and alignment with our needs.
Additionally, this role is eligible for equity compensation, reflecting our commitment to shared success as we work together to make better medicines.
