Associate Scientist/Scientist, B Cell platform – Athens, GA

Our Alloy Athens team is looking for an Associate Scientist or Scientist to join our team in Athens, GA. The position will report directly to our Director of Antibody Discovery and work with our team to support the discovery of antibody-based therapeutics and the development of new platform technologies. You will be using the very latest cell and molecular biology techniques and protocols with the ultimate goal of helping others to make better medicines.


Principal Responsibilities

  • Directly involved in discovery of antibodies using our state-of-the-art B cell platform
  • Project manager for antibody discovery campaigns
  • Enriching B cells from spleen, lymph node or bone marrow by magnetic beads or similar techniques
  • Sample preparation for B cell sort
  • Antigen specific B cell FACS sorting
  • Recovery of antibody sequences post B cell FACS sort
  • NGS library building using 10X genomics protocol
  • Antibody sequence analysis
  • High throughput cloning of antibodies into mammalian expression vectors


Required Qualifications and Skills

  • B.S/M.S with 4+ years or PhD with 2+ years of experience in antibody discovery or protein engineering
  • Experience with flow cytometry and molecular biology protocols
  • Experience in discovery of antibodies using B cell platform, phage or yeast display is highly preferred
  • Experience in adapting manual processes to automation
  • Attention to detail, rigorous and innovative scientific thinking and appropriate documentation, clear communication
  • An independent sense of urgency, persistence, and integrity


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Routine molecular biology techniques such as Gibson cloning, PCR
  • NGS analysis using Geneious biologics or similar software
  • NGS library building using 10X genomics protocols
  • A track record of troubleshooting instruments
  • ELN and LIMS experience
