About Scientist / Associate Scientist, Protein Analytics – Waltham, MA

Our Alloy Discovery Services group is looking for a Scientist or Associate Scientist to join our team in Waltham, Massachusetts. The position will report directly to our Senior Director of Analytics Characterization and work with our Discovery Services team to support the discovery of antibody-based therapeutics and the development of new platform technologies. You will be using the very latest protein analytics tools and protocols with the ultimate goal of helping others to make better medicines.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Support and run various antigen and antibody analytical techniques including:
    • Biochemical characterization (e.g., protein purity, aggregation, charge variance)
    • Binding characterization (e.g., protein-protein interactions, cell binding, ligand inhibition assays)
    • Developability assessment (e.g., self-interaction, poly-reactivity)
  • Be generous when others are needy, greedy or fearful

 

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Ph.D. / M.S. / B.A in an appropriate scientific discipline (biochemistry, biophysics, cell biology or similar)
  • Experience with Flow Cytometry, SPR or BLI, or SEC HPLC
  • Demonstrated understanding of protein biochemical properties and protein-protein interactions
  • Attention to detail, rigorous and innovative scientific thinking and appropriate documentation, clear communication
  • An independent sense of urgency, persistence, and integrity

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in adapting manual processes to automation
  • Experience in high throughput antibody characterization assays
  • Familiarity with charge analysis (cIEF or CZE), size and purity analysis (CE-SDS, SEC HPLC, DSL), or Mass Spectrometry
  • Experience with protein labeling including biotinylating and fluorophore labeling
  • A track record of troubleshooting instruments
  • ELN and LIMS experience
