About Director, Antibody Discovery – Athens, GA

Our Alloy Athens group is looking for a Director of Antibody Discovery to join our team in Athens, GA. The position will report directly to our Alloy-Athens CEO and work in collaboration with our partners to discover therapeutic antibodies from transgenic mice, with the ultimate goal of helping others to make better medicines faster.   This is both a hands-on and supervisory position, which will include overseeing cell sorting and analytical scientists.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Develop best-in-class processes for therapeutic antibody B cell sorting from transgenic mice
  • Oversee the development of mouse immunization processes
  • Oversee the development of high throughput processes for epitope binning, affinity and developability assays
  • Contribute to alliance management in collaborative projects
  • Be generous when others are needy, greedy or fearful


Required Qualifications and Skills

  • PhD or MS with 10+ years of antibody discovery experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in fluorescent-based cell sorting
  • Demonstrated expertise in antibody characterization
  • Experience in management of multiple projects in a fast-moving team environment
  • Experience in effective management of scientific talent to maximize productivity and positive team dynamics
  • Attention to detail, rigorous scientific thinking and appropriate documentation, clear communication
  • An independent sense of urgency, persistence, and integrity


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience with Carterra technology
  • Experience with alternative immunization protocols and adjuvant in hyperimmune mice
  • ELN and LIMS experience
